Vancouver Blogger Challenge: How to wear a LBD

Recently, I was challenged by Sarah of Cooper's Closet to be a part of a multi-blogger challenge extravaganza!! Ok, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but basically she thought it would be fun for us to each showcase our individual styles by styling a similar, yet different outfit. The first challenge was to do the LBD, otherwise known as the Little Black Dress.

LBDs are pretty much in everyone's closet.  They're great for all occasions, universally flattering, and you don't have to break your bank just to get something decent.  I used to count LBDs as one of my staples, but when I started to go through my closet for this challenge, I realized all my LBDs were either too skanky, too formal, or too boring for a blogger challenge!  I needed a LBD to wear to a fashion event with Sheila, and I knew I didn't want to show up in formal wear, or look like a hooker, so I needed something asap that would be cute, springy and fun.  This is what I came up with:

Shrug: vintage | Skirt: Forever 21 | Lace bicycle shorts: Urban Outfitters | Peep-toe sandals: Spring

Only after I put this together did I realize how colorful this was. I suppose I don't do all black very well!  I think it's because my father is kinda superstitious, so anytime I used to come out of my room in all black, he'd exclaim something along the lines of "Aiya! Why do you want to look like Death?!"  My inspiration for this outfit was to continue my Clashtastic series by pairing 2 fun prints together to add a new twist to a black outfit.  Nude shoes solidify the look and in order to make myself feel a bit more modest, I threw a 3rd lacy print into the mix with these lace bicycle shorts.

Sheila was kind enough to take my photos and I LOVE how they turned out! It was the perfect sunset over the water and we had a great time goofing around and pretending to be "serious models."  Check out her blog here for the photos I took of her!
