Ask MizzJ: Great patent flats for any price range

Awhile back I received an email from a lovely reader asking me about how to find black, or navy, patent leather flats.  I was thrilled to think that I could help out with this reader's conundrum, so I got my googling fingers ready for some shopping!

Everyone should have a couple pairs of good quality leather flats in their closet.  A good pair of black flats are uber versatile for any occasion, with any outfit and will save your feet during times when heels would be just masochistic.  If you've already got black, navy is a great secondary choice that allows you to branch out a bit, without sacrificing any versatility.

Here are some options I found for each price range:

Low (< $50)

It doesn't get any more basic than these Aldo Ohearn flats - patent, slight slight heel and a trendy almond toe.  These babies are on currently on sale for only $17.49!!

If the Ohearns are too boring for you, add in a classically chic ballerina bow with these Aldo Konya flats - only $40.

Medium ($50-150)

I loove these Kenneth Cole Reaction flats.  The shiny leather isn't as slick as patent, but it does give a more natural polish feel.  Plus the navy color makes these flats super fun for summer - think nautical striped dresses, cute white preppy capris, and even colorful vintage-inspired floral dresses! At $59 these puppies won't break the bank either.

Next up are these Michael Kors Odette patent flats, available for $119.99.  How can you resist shoes that are named after the Swan Princess?  These classic almond-toe flats are very chic, but what makes them great is that they're built for the real working woman;  featuring a durable rubber sole, you can be rest assured that you can walk in all conditions without worry of slippage.  These are chic flats made for running for the bus, the subway, or that cute guy.

High ($150+)

Now onto the designer finds!  I've always coveted a pair of Tory Burch flats and these Chelsea Ballet flats are quintessential Burch elegance.  Unlike the ubiquitous regular ballet flats though, the Chelseas' feature the TB logo as a delicate little charm under a ballerina bow.  These beauties are also available in Black and a very smart Sangria red and will set you back about $195.

Finally we have the gorgeous, classic, drool-worthy Salvatore Ferragamo Varina Classic bow flats.  I've had the pleasure of seeing them in person as my blogger friend Sheila owns these in nude!  These flats are a work of subtle elegance from the pretty patent finish, the proper (but not prim) bow, to the discreet Ferragamo label.  These flats come last in my list as they are the most expensive at $448, but they are the most beautiful.

I had great fun answering this classic fashion question.  If you have a fashion or beauty related problem, feel free to email/tweet/leave a comment with your question!
