Most of the time, being a blogger isn't very glamourous. It's a lot of sitting in front of a computer and bouts of depression that your subscription numbers never, ever, seem to go up, but sometimes, being a blogger can be really really amazing. The highlight of my year was to attend the recent London Drugs Cosmetics preview. Once a year, LD hosts an invite-only event showcasing all the new products for all their makeup and beauty brands for the upcoming season. Last year was a glamourous event in downtown Vancouver featuring hot model waiters, manicure bars and the elite of Vancouver's fashion set. How could this year ever top that?
One word: HELICOPTER.
Yes, you heard me right. As invited media I got to take a helicopter from downtown Vancouver to the secret event location near the Vancouver International airport! Sure, beats taking the bus! I wasn't too nervous about flying in a helicopter as I've flown a glider plane before, but it was still quite thrilling as the helicopter took us on a fabulous aerial tour of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park and the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
Nervously waiting for take-off with Sheila
Peeking into the cockpit pre-takeoff
Beautiful BC
Once we landed, we were whisked away by a limo to the aircraft hangar where the event was taking place and we were greeted by gracious London Drug hosts. Drinks in hand and giggling like kids in a candy store, we got down to business.
There were so many things to take in this year. From some pretty amazing hair curlers, including an ionic hairdryer-blowout wand, to hair serums, vegan nail polishes, lash serums and CC everything, I was seriously impressed with all the innovation and downright gorgeous goodies. Here are some of the highlights of products soon to arrive at a London Drugs near you:
Heat styling tools care of Revlon, all under $100!
Revlon nail art bar: these double-ended polishes are a manicure in a tube with fantastic glitter and polish color combos
Revlon illuminators to get that just-kissed glow
Eco-friendly polishes c/o Mineral Fusion
Eee! So excited that Cargo is now at London Drugs. Judging by the flawless MUAs at the Cargo booth, these Blu-ray pressed powders will be worth every penny
Cargo blush palette
New Lise Watier souffle shadows
Lise Watier limited edition seasonal shadow palette - can't wait to try this one!
Not sure why these Lise Watier nail polishes need a light, but hey, why not?
Lash Em' lash and eyebrow growth serum
Layla Cosmetics debuts at London Drugs this year with their HUGE line of polishes in an array of colors prettier than any rainbow
Thank you SO much London Drugs for hosting me at this amazing event! Stay tuned for tons of product reviews soon!

ReplyDeleteAgreed! Being a blogger, even a beauty and fashion blogger, isn't glamorous most of the time. And it's so hard sustaining a blog. But it's worth the effort though.
that is so freaking awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteeh, i don't care about numbers. i never even bother to look at my stats but the fact that you got to go to this event (how'd you score an invite?) makes up for whatever your numbers are, am i right?! :D
