Every season I look forward to trying out the new fragrances from one of my favourite beauty brands, L'Occitane. Anyone who reads this blog will know that I am a huge fan of L'Occitane and it's easy to be when all their products are so beautifully packaged, impeccably formulated and are of the highest quality.
My favourite part of visiting any L'Occitane store is to go straight for the fragrance section. I wasn't much of a perfume hound until I began collecting L'Occitane fragrances and they are now the standard for me in terms of fragrance and classical packaging.
Although not super long-lasting, I have always found L'Occitane fragrances to be the best for their purity, price and adherence to natural notes. Perfume is such a personal thing and very contextual to your skin chemistry, so it's a little hard to make blanket statements, but in my experiences, L'Occitane perfumes wear very well on my skin and don't seem to change much from the bottle.
The latest one I've gotten to try is the new Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette. Iris B&B is part of the La Grasse collection, which also includes my other faves like Neroli & Orchidee, Cedre & Oranger and Fleur d'Or & Acacia. Besides an EDT, the Iris B&B collection also includes hand creams, shower gels, and lotions.
As per usual, the packaging of this perfume is beautiful. I just had to give in and tint these photos a ridiculous shade of violet as my camera failed to emit the pretty lilac tone of this bottle. While most of the L'Occitane fragrance bottles are very simple and clean, this one contains a gold printed stencil on the back, which fits the youthful princessy feel of this fragrance.
The main notes in the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette are:
- Top notes: citrus, blackcurrant
- Middle notes: blue iris, white iris, ylang ylang, peach
- Base notes: cedarwood, musk
When first sprayed, I first detect the strong floral notes of iris and what smells to me a bit like lavender. I'm not familiar with what iris smells like though, so I could be mixing lavender with iris. Then, and this is my favourite part, the sweet fruity notes pull through. Although this perfume has citrus, it doesn't smell citrusy at all to me; rather it smells lush and juicy like biting into a very ripe strawberry or blackberry. The peach adds a hint of additional sweetness and then at the end is the rich smell of musk to weigh everything down and prevent it from just being too saccharine or girly.
Surprisingly, the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette wears a lot better than other L'Occitane fragrances that I've tried. I usually will spray each wrist once in the morning and normally my fragrance will wear away by the afternoon, but with the Iris B&B, 12 hours later, after a full work day and an outdoor jog, I could still smell a decent whiff of it on my skin!
You can purchase the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette for $75 for a 75 ml bottle online or at any L'Occitane location.
