OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic Review | 1 spray to shiny soft tresses!

OGX Anti-gravity and hydration O2 weightless oil and lifting tonic review

Lately I've been trying to stay away with experimenting too much with hair products as I haven't had too much success in the past, but when the new OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic ($10.99) came my way at the recent London Drugs Beauty Preview, I was curious enough to overcome my initial reservations.

This spray on hairspray and conditioning tonic in one, claims to rejuvenate dry, limp hair with lightweight moisture while also subtly boosting volume with its mix "oxygen technology" and cloudberry oil. I've always been a fan of OGX's approach to natural, fresh smelling products, so I was keen to try this one out on my perpetually lifeless and limp locks!

To use, simply shake the OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic vigorously before applying a few spritzes to your hair. I love the fresh and clean smell to this spray. It's kinda floral but also kinda oceanic smelling, and it just epitomizes summer morning air to me.

The OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic primarily contains:

  • Water
  • Isododecane - a lightweight emollient
  • Glycerin - a moisturizer
  • Perfluorodecalin - a solvent and detangler that effectively releases oxygen onto surfaces such as skin to help improve moisture absorption
  • Glycosphingolipids - an emollient
The OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic also contains cloudberry oil (a berry with high levels of vitamin C, which is a known antioxidant - not sure how effective that is on hair, but still cool to see), jojoba seed oil (moisturizing) and shea butter (moisturizing). Altogether this tonic contains lots of hydrating ingredients, but not a ton of obvious voluminizers.

As always, the ingredients tend to tell the true story of a product as I found the OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic to be more hydrating than voluminizing.

I like to use this spray right after towel drying my hair. After generously spraying the OGX O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic everywhere on my head, I do a quick comb through and then let my hair air dry. The effects I'd say are pretty subtle. My hair looks and feels smoother, but not dramatically so and I definitely didn't notice any difference in volume. I like to use this tonic as a refresher for my hair before I go out and as a detangler. It's a lighter option than a straight up hair oil, but also as a result less effective.

So do you need this hair tonic in your life? I don't think so, but if you enjoy things like facial mists, which I never thought I'd buy into, but am now in love with, then you may want to check this option out.
