Stress. It's a standard of everyday modern life and it can drastically affect your mental and physical health, as well as your outward appearance. The founder of skyn ICELAND learned this the hard way, when she was forced to detox her life after stress became too much. To do so, she escaped to Iceland, where she was inspired by its pristine landscapes and laid back lifestyle to create a lifestyle and beauty company focused on encapsulating Iceland's pure natural benefits into a line of skincare products.
I've always wanted to visit Iceland, so why not start with some skincare inspired by it?

Final Verdict: Ditch
As if we didn't have enough steps to our skincare routines, now there are eye serums! Much like a facial serum, you would apply the skyn ICELAND Brightening Eye Serum morning and night before you apply your regular eye cream.
Also like most serums, this one comes in a small, glass dropper-style bottle. Having the dropper is quite handy as it lets you easily control how much you apply, as this serum is quite watery; however, I'm finding that droppers don't work so well once you get near to the bottom of the bottle as it can't suck up the last little layer, similar to pumps. This is quite the tragedy as the skyn ICELAND Brightening Eye Serum is so small. You only get 10 ml of product and since you're instructed to use this twice a day, a drop under each eye adds up real quick. I've been using mine for a month and I've already used about 2/3 of the bottle! I know that eye products usually come in smaller bottles, but at basically $4.60/ml, that's a price to product ratio that really has me cringing.
Thankfully, what you do get, is pretty well made. I always love it when the "cool" ingredients come up high in a product's ingredient's list, so I was super pleased to see that the skyn ICELAND Brightening Eye Serum contains healthy amounts of natural moisturizers, such as Dunaliella salina extract, a type of algae known for its super-hydrating properties; Centella asiatica extract, an herb used in Ayurvedic medicine that's also moisturizing and smoothing; and Palmitoyl tripeptide-38, a hydrating peptide complex. It also contains other awesome moisturizers such as, cucumber extract, Arctic cloudberry, jojoba seed oil and hyaluronic acid.
Despite its price and small size, I do find myself liking this serum. It has a really refreshing, light and watery texture that never overwhelms my delicate eye area with too much moisture, and it has a pleasant cooling sensation that is especially welcome at night. As it's so watery, I let this serum absorb for a minute before applying my cream and it seems to mix well with both thinner and thicker creams.
As far as hydration goes, I think the skyn ICELAND Brightening Eye Serum does a decent job at boosting my creams' moisturizing power. I've noticed less creasing in my under eye area, unless I'm wearing a lot of concealer, which is pretty typical for me, and if I don't wear anything on my under eye area, then I have zero creasing all day!
Unfortunately, it doesn't work so well at actually brightening or lessening my dark circles. After a couple sleepless nights in the last week, my dark circles are pretty deep and this serum was powerless to affect it.
Overall, I think this is a nice, but unnecessary product. I've used other eye serums in the past and I don't believe this one to stack up as well as those. Good eye products are notoriously tricky to find and unfortunately for the skyn ICELAND Brightening Eye Serum, it falls decidedly on the Ditch list.
Life lately: As an addendum to this review, I thought it interesting to take a personality test on the skyn ICELAND site about how type A you are and I scored a 91 (out of 100??)!! I've actually been feeling less stressed lately, but according to this I need learn how to let go more often. Good thing I just booked a long weekend in LA in a couple months!
